Description Video interview with Jack Hassard, Labour Party councillor in Dungannon, for RTE News in December 1968. In August of that year the Northern Ireland civil rights movement began public marches in support of its objectives causing community tensions between Catholics and Protestants. On 4 December 1968 violence broke out between loyalists and civil rights campaigners following one such march in Dungannon. During this outbreak of violence Hassard was attacked and death-threats were sent to his home, leading him to resign. In this interview he discusses the escalation of conflict in Northern Ireland.
